Abby Hamblin

Abby Hamblin is a recent graduate of Andover High School. She will be attending Point Loma Nazarene University in the fall to study Journalism. Abby was the editor-in-chief of Andover High's paper, The Trojan Bluestreak, her senior year and was also sports editor and a staff writer in her three years on staff.


Adam Knapp

Adam Knapp is owner and Director of Operations for ScoopFire. He has been in newspaper journalism for 20 years, including 11 at the Wichita Eagle (1996-2007). Most of his time there was spent as the beat writer for Wichita State University athletics, although he covered everything from high school sports to the NFL.

Knapp also occasionally wrote hard news, religion and entertainment for the Eagle, and won three national awards from the Associated Press Sports Editors (APSE). He has also won numerous newsroom, state and regional awards, most recently a first-place finish in 2009 from the Kansas Press Association for his story in the Wichita Business Journal.

His articles have appeared in Baseball America and ESPN.com. Knapp is a former sports editor at the Arkansas City Traveler and sportswriter for the St. Joseph (Mo.) News-Press.

David Mace

David Mace is a business consultant with nearly two decades of marketing, consulting, management and teaching experience. His favorite thing to do professionally is help people and organizations reach their full potential through a strengths-based approach and lean management practices. Dave is passionate about small business and views it as the lifeblood of our economy.


Derek Tuttle

Derek Tuttle's interest in the outdoors started with pheasant hunting and fishing as a youngster in northwest Kansas. In the last 10 years, he's ventured into waterfowl, turkey, and deer hunting. One of his favorites, though, is camping with his kids because of the love and laughs they share before, during, and after each adventure.

From March of this year until its recent closing, he had been submitting a monthly Campfire Log column to The Andover Journal-Advocate as a freelance writer.

He currently works as an English teacher and assistant football coach at Andover Central High School. For more than 11 years, he has taught and coached in the Andover school district.

Heather Eslick

Heather Eslick has called Andover home since 2000. She and her husband, David, a computer systems consultant, moved here from Wellington where they started their family in 1989. They have 4 boys - Jason, 20; Kyle, 17; Ethan, 9; and Ben, 8.

A self-proclaimed Rachael Ray want-to-be, Heather's interests include cooking, shopping, and a few random and occasionally fleeting hobbies. She enjoys entertaining as well as spending quiet evenings at home.

Heather is currently building her business as a nail technician at Nail Studio 37, here in Andover, but feels her most important job is that of raising her boys.

Jeff Guy

Jeff Guy grew up in Augusta, but now lives in Towanda with his family. His wife, Liana, is executive director of the Pregnancy Care Center in Augusta. They have two children: Sam, 7; and Kenzie, 4. The family attends Haverhill Christian Church just east outside Augusta.

Guy started writing in high school and has been working as a reporter off and on for the past 20 years. He received his degree in print journalism from Wichita State University's Elliott School of Communication. After many years, Jeff is back at WSU, this time seeking a degree in elementary education. His primary job now is with South Central Kansas Mental Health Association, but he also works as a substitute teacher in various school districts.

His favorite volunteer activities are anything that involves his kids. Lately, that has meant working with his son's cub scout troop. Jeff has worked and/or volunteered at Cowtown, the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame, KPTS Channel 8 and KMUW 89.1 FM.

Guy loves walking his black Labrador, Sparky. His favorite all-time TV show is "The Sopranos," favorite music group is the Beatles and his favorite quote is from Winston Churchill: "Never, never, never give in."


Kristin Baker

Kristin Baker loves teaching journalism at Andover High School, where she has worked for four years. The school's student newspaper, The Bluestreak, has been named an All-Kansas award winner and a Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Medalist for three years running. In addition, Andover High journalism students won the 4A State Journalism title in 2009.

As much as she enjoys teaching, Baker misses the reporting she did in her college days at Baker University, so she recently has written some articles for a couple of area publications.

Maria Mannani

Maria Mannani is a senior at Wichita State University, majoring in Communication with an emphasis in Print Journalism. She currently works as a marketing assistant for NRPGroup Inc., a news reporter for The Sunflower News, and a freelance writer for Naked City magazine.

Born and raised in Wichita, Mannani's hobbies include shopping, cooking, biking, and home decor.


Robert Collins

Robert Collins' second science-fiction novel, "Lisa's Way," has just been released by eTreasures Publishing. His first science-fiction novel, "Expert Assistance," was published by Asylett Press in 2007. He's sold more than 70 short science-fiction and fantasy stories to magazines such as Marion Zimmer Bradley's Fantasy Magazine; Tales of the Talisman; Space Westerns; The Fifth Di...; and Sorcerous Signals.

He's also had two biographies of Civil-War-era Kansas leaders published by Pelican, and six railroad books published by South Platte Press. He's sold dozens of articles to periodicals such as Working Writer; Wild West; Chronicle of the Old West; and Territorial Magazine. One of his first history essays and nonfiction sales was on the 1898 Andover Train Robbery.

Collins is a member of the Butler County Historical Society, the Kansas Center for the Book, and the Society of Midland Authors. He is an Andover High graduate who has lived in Andover since 1981. You may reach Collins at rlckansas@cox.net.


Stephen F. King

Stephen King is a former reporter and managing editor for the Ark Valley News in Valley Center. He is the recipient of numerous Kansas Press Association awards for sports reporting, sports columns, news reporting and editorial writing. He also has two National Newspaper Association awards.

King was a sports reporter and sports editor for the Wichita State University Sunflower, and graduated from WSU in 1993. He has written for several other publications, including the Wichita Business Journal.

He is currently a Project Coordinator for Equitrac Corporation. He lives in east Wichita with his wife and two of their four children.

Taylor Eldridge

Taylor Eldridge is a 20-year-old Wichita State student wandering his way towards majoring in Communications with an emphasis in print journalism. He has been writing, mainly sports, for three years and has been published in The Wichita Eagle, The Kansas City Star and on NBA.com. His work has been featured on 1A of the Eagle, as well as the front page of the Sports and Local and State sections, as well as in the GO! Section.

He is currently the Wichita State women's basketball beat writer for the Eagle, as well as covering high school sports. He also currently writes for The Times-Sentinel, The Sunflower and CoachesAid.com. He is also a main contributor in the Eagle's high school sports blog, VarsityKansas.

His dry sense of humor derives from his favorite television shows - Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Office. He is a die-hard Kansas State fan, though admits to relapsing into watching the Big XII Championship highlights to remain an optimistic fan.
